Here at Office1, we believe that the foundation of our success is rooted in our incredible and highly talented team. In our "Inside the Office" series, we get the opportunity to put a spotlight on the people who keep innovating in order to push Office1 to new heights.

In this edition, we get to know Perminder, our service director based out of San Jose. Perminder started with OneSource Office Systems in 2000 before the company was acquired by Office1 in 2016. Coming up, find out how Perminder got started in the tech industry.

Perminder, what do you do for Office1?

I run the service department for the Bay Area. I do a little bit of everything. I work in operations, the service department and I will be working with the billable supplies team as well.

Do you have any nicknames?

Mister P

Where did you grow up?

Born and Raised in a place called Leeds in England.

If you could pick a superpower, what would you choose?

Probably the ability to read people's minds. Sometimes people have a hard time communicating so it would help me understand what people want or need.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I've always been into electronics and mechanical stuff. When I was growing up I wanted to be a TV repair man. Later, I diversified into digital electronics and got into this field.

What was your first job?

My first job was working on office equipment. I got an apprenticeship in 1991. The company I worked for sent me to college and I got my electronics degree from Kitson College in Leeds.

What is your favorite part about living in San Jose?

I love the weather. California weather is the best weather in the world. You can't duplicate this anywhere else!

What is your favorite thing about working for Office1?

The teamwork and being part of a family. Every time I go to Las Vegas, San Diego or LA I feel so welcomed. There's always something to do and work on.

Pick one of the three O's (Origin, Operation, Opportunity) and tell us what it means to you?

Opportunity definitely. No matter what gets thrown at you, positive or negative, you have to find the opportunities in everything or you won't succeed in anything. If you find the opportunity, you can grow.

What’s the biggest project on your to-do list right now?

My biggest project right now is working with the supplies team and getting them on board with the TLC program to get it running in other markets.

What excites you the most about technology?

The technology advances. In the blink of an eye, there's something new.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Spend time with my kids, I make sure they have their homework done and the house is clean by Friday so during the weekend we can go out and have fun.

What are your biggest pet peeves?

I'm one of those guys that has to have everything lined up and done correctly. That's my pet peeve. I'm a clean freak. I need everything set and in place.

What is your favorite quote?

"Talent wins games, but team work and intelligence wins championships." -Michael Jordan

What is one thing your co-workers would be surprised to know about you?

That's a good one! I'm a pretty straight forward guy. What you see is what you get so I don't think there would be any surprise.
