In our "Inside the Office" series, we get the opportunity to put a spotlight on the people who keep innovating in order to push Office1 to new heights. This month, we get to know Las Vegas receptionist Juliana.
Juliana, what do you do for Office1?
I am the receptionist at the Las Vegas Downtown office. I answer the door, direct people where they need to go and I help the CSRs and do jobs for admin. I man the front office. I am the gatekeeper.
Do you have any nicknames? My close friends call me Jules, my family calls me Julie. Todd call me Julie too sometimes.
My childhood was in Woodstock, GA and in 2004 we moved to Las Vegas.
If you could pick a superpower, what would you choose?
I would say the ability to fly so I could be anywhere when I want to be so I can experience things cheaper. It's a lame superpower but I always wanted to fly.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a ton of things. I wanted to be an astronaut but then I realized how much math was involved so decided that I can't do that. I also wanted to be an artist and I kind of am in a way with jewelry. I work with crystals and I make necklaces, bracelets and earrings for men and women. I do wire wrap jewelry. I source my own crystals. I up-cycle a lot of my pieces also so I reuse pieces from a necklace or bracelet and make it into something new.
What was your first job?
I was a lifeguard. i worked at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club then I worked at New York, New York Hotel and Casino for a couple of summers. One summer, when we were cleaning up the dirty towels by the pool and the towel bin was a little bit heavy and the ground wasn't flat and the towel bin went into the pool and we had to get in the pool and pick up all the towels. Now, as a part of their training, they tell that story when they have new lifeguards to train.
What is your favorite part about living in Las Vegas?
I like the aspect of everything being 24/7. If you are hungry, then you can always find something open like sushi. I like the accessibility compared to other places that I've lived in.
What is your favorite thing about working for Office1?
My favorite thing about working for Office1 is the family atmosphere. Once you join the company, you become part of the family and everyone looks out for each other. We celebrate birthdays and milestones and it's a great company that makes you feel like you're part of something greater.
Pick one of the three O's (Origin, Operation, Opportunity) and tell us what it means to you?
I would choose Opportunity. Office1 is a growing company so there is a lot of opportunity for growth and new experiences. You always have an opportunity to get into new roles because of the growth and improve and grow.
What’s the biggest project on your to-do list right now?
My biggest project would be working with the CSRs. I'm on call so I like to improve my quality of calls and how many calls I take throughout the day. I'm trying to get my average speed to answer down to 1 second but right now I'm between 2 and 3 seconds. I also get projects throughout the month for payroll.
What excites you the most about technology?
Technology is forever growing. There's new things that come out every single day. I love learning about what new types of technology comes out. Technology is just so cool and you don't know what is going to come next until you see it come out and its so neat. I like how technology helps improve our quality of life.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
I don't like repetitive noises like if someone taps their pen or pencil repetitively and won't stop. Other than that, I'm pretty easy going.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I like to binge watch Netflix. I also like to hang out with family, friends and my significant other. I also like to explore little shops around Las Vegas that are cute and full of charm and not part of the mainstream.
